Beep, beep, beep

What’s that I hear? It’s the moving truck reversing up the driveway! After two-and-a-half years here at wordpress, it’s time to move on to bigger and better things, and I’ve got myself a spiffy new blog/website over at http://rachelmeszaros.com.au – come on over! I’ve even got a house-warming party happening, so come join the fun.

So I lied…

…when I said in my initial teaser post from Jon and Ang’s wedding, that one of those images was my favourite wedding image.

*This* one is my favourite, with a late aternoon glow, and the beautiful Kings Plains Castle in the background:

And I’m a bit partial to this one, from earlier in the day, when Ang’s dad came in while the girls were getting ready

Brand new.

One of the loveliest things about shooting a maternity session is the knowledge that I will soon get to meet and photograph a brand new little person. So I was just thrilled to hear from Megan that she had a brand new baby boy!

For someone who is supposed to sleep 23 hours a day, he was awfully awake!

Ang & Jon :: Wedding

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of heading out to Kings Plains Castle between Inverell and Glen Innes, to photograph the wedding of Jon & Ang.  Beautiful weather, a great couple, a wonderful, intimate ceremony. All the elements for a perfect wedding.

I think this one is one of my favourite wedding shots ever!

And the same shot, with slightly different processing. I can’t decide which I like more!

Congratulations again, Jon & Ang. Your wedding was absolutely lovely, and it was an honour to be there to capture your special day.

Seniors Mini-sessions

Remember Hollie’s portraits I blogged a couple of weeks back? It was all part of a grander plan.

I am thrilled to announce the launch of my Seniors Mini-sessions. A fun little package for year twelve students, it includes a 20 minute mini-portrait session and a pack of 100 contact cards. The cards are personalised, with the student’s phot on the front, and up to six lines of text on the back. They are a great way to share contact details with old friends & new friends, or as an inclusion with a resume to make a lasting impression on potential employers.

The mini-sessions will be running in Inverell on August 1 and August 15, for futher information or to secure a spot, shoot me an email at rachel[at]rachelmeszaros.com.au.

A new chapter…

A new baby is always exciting, be they a first baby or a fifth. There is something about the innocence, the freshness, the potential of these new little people that never ceases to amaze me. And there is a special joy in photographing a mother expecting a younger sibling for their children – seeing the excitement on the children’s faces, the shy pride as they let me in on the secret that mummy has a baby in her tummy.

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of shooting some maternity portraits for Megan, and little Miss Two wasn’t quite sure of me at first, but it didn’t take long and she was posing for the camera like  pro!

(as a side note, it’s a good idea to take the camera off high speed action mode before inviting the two year old to “press that button there” – let’s just say it’s a good thing I wasn’t shooting with my film camera!)

Megan has a cute little “basketball” belly – so neat and round!

Thanks for having me around Megan, I look forward to meeting the little person hiding in there in a few weeks!

Black & White Babies

Another little project I’ve had running behind the scenes lately is some prints for the Inverell Maternity unit. I had a lot of fun shooting these images, lots of tiny toes & fingers & snuggly babies, now I just need someone to visit up there so I can see them in action!

I’ve got an idea…

Which can be a scary thing sometimes! Luckily for me, I have awesome clients, and when I tell them I’ve had an idea, they are generally happy to roll with whatever crazy suggestion I’ve dreamed up.

Like Hollie. When I mentioned a location for some portraits, she willingly agreed to go along with what must have seemed like a very random suggestion! But the craziness paid off, and we got some great portraits, like this one…

Keep an eye out on the blog over the next few weeks – I’ve got something special planned for Hollie’s photos.

An update on life…

I haven’t blogged for a while, I know, but I have been busy. Mainly general life stuff, but I have also had a few projects I’ve been working on, that I haven’t really been free to blog about.

One of which was for a very clever, dear friend of mine, who has a funky new style of baby wrap, called the SnugglePouch. It’s used in place of the standard muslin baby wrap, and is designed to make it easier to transfer a wrapped baby from the car seat to the pram to the cot, and any which way in between.

The photos are more eloquent than I, so I shall let them explain…

In the cot – just like a normal wrap, keeps baby feeling snug & safe…

And then into the car, and the wrap comes into it’s own, with a clever little opening for the belt clip to slip through. The arms can then be tucked in to keep baby snug.

Isn’t it a great idea? It comes in both summer & winter weights, and a few different sizes. Email Megan at snugglepouch@gmail.com for more information.
